Police: Auto Theft Trend Surfaces in Pikesville Precinct

A spate of automobile thefts has Baltimore County police urging residents to lock vehicles, to not store valuables in them, and to report any suspicious activity.

"The Pikesville Precinct has experienced five theft of automobiles" from Aug. 5-7, according to a crime trend alert distributed to community groups from the Pikesville Precinct. "Please lock your vehicles at all times," and remove all valuables from vehicles, it states.

Since that alert was written, an additional vehicle was reported stolen from the 7400 block of Ricksway Road in Lochearn, according to a report by police.

The first five thefts occurred at the following locations, according to the alert:

"Please be mindful of any suspicious subjects or activity in your neighborhood. Contact 911 to have police respond," the alert states. "If you can safely get a good description of the subject(s), please do that to assist police responding to the area. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact the Community Outreach Team for assistance."

The team also offers free home security surveys of homes.

The outreach team is located at the precinct, 215 Milford Mill Rd., Pikesville. Contact the team by visiting the precinct, or by calling 410-887-6775.
