Alert: State To Spray Milford Mill for Mosquitoes

The Maryland Department of Agriculture will be spraying in Milford Mill tonight and Sept. 13 to kill mosquitoes.

The spraying program, which includes other areas as well, is being done because there has been a case of a Baltimore County resident who has gotten West Nile virus, according to a news release.

Some mosquitoes might carry the virus and can transmit it to humans through bites.

The spraying will help stop the disease from being transmitted, according to a news release from Baltimore County.

According to the release, weather permitting, spraying will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 and Sept. 13.

The MDA recommends that residents in the Milford Mill area stay indoors during spraying, the release states.

The spray is BioMist 30-30, which "contains the active ingredient permethrin," the release states.

Permethrin is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
