Owings Mills Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder
Elrich Smith, 19, of Owings Mills faces life without parole in the 2011 murder of a 17-year-old female in Randallstown.
A 19-year-old Owings Mills man was convicted of first-degree murder Friday in connection with the 2011 shooting of a 17-year-old female. Elrich Smith, of the 900 block of Joshua Tree Court, faces the maximum penalty of life without the possibility of parole for the July 24, 2011, murder of Katelyn Messina, according to a press release from the Maryland State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. Smith was convicted by a jury in the Baltimore County Circuit Court. Smith and Ryan McLean lured Darnell Hill and Katelyn Messina to a cul-de-sac off of Chapeldale Road in Randallstown to try to kill Hill over a gang dispute. This is not his first run in with the system. He has had multiple issues. This is just his first major crime. I know Chris personally. I tried on multiple occasions to help him. I loved him before he got into all the crap that he did. My deepest condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss.   more ›
