Blog: Get Down with Yoga on Cushy Floor

Charm City Yoga in Pikesville sports a floor specially made for yoga.

Where you do yoga can make a difference, according to a Charm City Yoga blog post. At the new studio in Pikesville, there's a special yoga floor that's shock-absorbent, resists moisture buildup and bacteria growth and promotes air circulation, according to the article. Charm City Yoga tweeted that it's their "ramen noodle floor," because of its composition. Kim Manfredi and Chris Blades, who is her husband, opened the Pikesville studio in March to serve its customers who reside in the Pikesville area. They offer a variety of classes, including one with a mix of yogic and Jewish philosophies. Manfredi and Blades already own five studios locally: in Federal Hill, Fells Point, Midtown, Severna Park and Towson. For more information on the …

New Class Offers Mix of Yogic and Jewish Philosophies

Pikesville's newest yoga studio has combined the best of Pikesville into one class, taught by Edith Brotman.

Charm City Yoga has a new course designed especially for the Pikesville community, and the chain's newest studio, owner Chris Blades said. The course is called Mussar, and "it combines yogic philosophy and Jewish philosophy," he said. "We're holding a special workshop for the community here," Blades said this week. Instructor Edith Brotman has developed the Charm City Yoga course that meets each Sunday evening for six weeks, he said. The next class begins March 18 and ends April 29, and is held from 8-9:30 p.m., according to the studio website. Another session begins on May 13. The course costs $90 for the six week session. "Mussar is a traditional Jewish form of self-study that shares a lot in common with the yogic practice of svadhyaya…

Charm City Yoga Poised for March 5 Opening

The local chain's newest studio, located in the CommerCentre, has classes already scheduled.

Charm City Yoga will call Pikesville home next month as the locally-owned chain opens its newest studio. Kim Manfredi and her husband, Chris Blades, already own five studios locally: in Federal Hill, Fells Point, Midtown, Severna Park and Towson. But they wanted to open one in Pikesville because it's a good location for many of their current students. "Our aim has always been to serve the teachers' and our students' needs," Manfredi said. "We know that a lot of our students commute to either Towson or Midtown from the Pikesville and Owings Mills area ... so many of the students would have a much easier time getting to the (Pikesville studio) and getting home," she said. The Pikesville studio, located in the CommerceCenter at 1777 …
