Here's the intersection of Reisterstown and Old Court roads before Walgreens, and after. What do you think of the changes?
Walgreens in downtown Pikesville is completed and is open, with its grand opening celebration set for Thursday. Celebration plans include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, food and entertainment, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store, 1510 Reisterstown Road. Kosher food will be served as well, the chamber said in an announcement. So, now it's time to reflect on the past, and make your own judgement about the progress the new store has brought to this important Pikesville gateway: the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads. Attached to this article are two photos: One of the site before the former Staples building was renovated, taken July 14, 2011; and another taken Monday, after the renovations were …

The second Walgreens in Pikesville opens Friday as part of the company's statewide expansion.
When the second Pikesville Walgreens opens this morning at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads, it will be the first of several new stores throughout the state. A grand opening celebration is set for April 19 at the new Pikesville store, according to a report in Convenience Store News. There will be free giveaways and children's activities during the event. The new store is located at 1504 Reisterstown Road, in the now-renovated site of the former Staples store. The office supply store is now located a block south in the Pikesville Shopping Center. It's been more than a year since reconstruction began on the 17,767-square-foot Walgreens at Reisterstown and Old Court roads, but a Walgreens official says it will open this week.
Pikesville's second Walgreens is set to open Friday, according to a Walgreens official. It's located at the corner of Old Court and Reisterstown Roads—a major corridor into the community. The 17,767-square-foot, reconstructed building is at 1504 Reisterstown Road—the former location of Staples. The office supply store is operating in a new location one block south in the Pikesville Shopping Center. The Walgreens site is surrounded by a black, metal fence and sports new landscaping, a new brick exterior, and a drive-thru pharmacy. There's already one Walgreens in Pikesville, located at the Shops at Quarry Lake. Time to dish out opinions on the building, the location, the landscaping (the black fence?). Any parking or traffic concerns? …

Chamber: Ann Taylor Loft, Wine and Other Stores Coming to Pikesville
The talk of the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce these days is the arrival of three new businesses at The Festival at Woodholme, including Ann Taylor Loft, set to make its home next to Trader Joe's. The Wine Loft will also be moving into the shopping center, said Jessica Normington, executive director for the chamber. Chicken Out left The Festival this summer, but a replacement could be in the works soon, Normington said. Corner Bakery Cafe, a Chicago-based chain, could be moving into that space. One Pikesville business recently moved from downtown to the shopping center: Couture Moda. Downtown, Dougie's Bar-B-Que, a kosher restaurant and sports bar chain, is coming into The Pikesville Plaza building at the corner of Slade and Reisterstown …

The Pikesville Chamber of Commerce and Baltimore County and state officials welcomed businesses into the county's Pikesville Revitalization District.
Yesterday's twin groundbreakings in downtown Pikesville are proof that all groundbreakings are not created equal. Let's start off with the similarities: Both ceremonies were held within the "urban village" of Baltimore County's Pikesville Revitalization District—the walkable part of downtown Pikesville from Old Court Road south to Slade Ave., where the county has set guidelines for the appearance of buildings. And the ceremonies were led by Sherrie Becker, executive director for the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Councilwoman Vicki Almond. Elected state officials also attended. But at each groundbreaking site there was a different vibe, because of the site itself, and maybe because of the corporate …

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Pikesville Chamber of Commerce team up for ceremonies at construction sites.
Pikesville celebrates the groundbreakings of two businesses Tuesday: the Walgreens at Reisterstown and Old Court roads, and the nearby headquarters for Goodman Gable Gould/Adjusters International, currently of Rockville. At 10:30 a.m. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Councilwoman Vicki Almond and leaders of the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce will hold a groundbreaking at the Walgreens construction site, located at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads. Last week, work began to transform the old Staples building into a Walgreens. Once completed, it will be Pikesville's newest Walgreens. It could open as early as January or February, said Sherrie Becker, executive director for the chamber. It will have the same "footprint…

Construction continues on the new Healthway Pharmacy building at the site of the defunct Backfin Restaurant; demolition begins for the new Walgreens; and don't forget the street festival this weekend.
It's construction season, and projects along Reisterstown Road are moving right along. At the site of the former Staples store, at the intersection of Old Court and Reisterstown roads, demolition has begun to convert the building into a new Walgreens. The footprint will remain the same, but there will be new landscaping and new features outside, including signage, of course. Healthway Progress And at the site of the defunct Backfin Restaurant, brick-and-mortar work is in progress on a new, two-story building with partial basement where Healthway Pharmacy will relocate. The building will house other offices as well. Street Festival Saturday You can see both these projects as you head to Waldron Avenue for the fourth-annual Pikesville Street…

Chamber: National business Walgreens will be located at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads, and Staples will relocate to Pikesville Shopping Center.
The Staples store at the corner of Old Court and Reisterstown roads will relocate next year, allowing a new Walgreens to move in, said Sherrie Becker, executive director for the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce. "Walgreens has purchased the Staples property on the corner of Old Court and Reisterstown roads," Becker said. The Staples' lease is up in January, and construction of the new Walgreens is likely to begin in January or February. Meanwhile, Staples will be moving into a store in the Pikesville Shopping Center at McHenry and Reisterstown roads. "The tenants (in the shopping center) have all been moved around in that facility to accommodate Staples' moving in," Becker said. There will be space at the shopping center for the Staples …
