Tainted Trader Joe's Frozen Chicken Dinner Recalled

The frozen dinners are thought to have been sold in Pikesville, Towson, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Rockville, and Bethesda, among other locations along the East Coast.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is assisting Canada's food inspection agency with the recall of nearly 5,000 pounds of possibly tainted chicken sold in frozen chicken and rice dinners at Trader Joe's groceries. The affected products, which were imported from Canada, were pulled from shelves. No actual cases of illness have been reported. The recalled product is: 12.5 oz boxes of Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice with product code 2012-10-31 and lot code 30512. USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the dinners may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, bacteria that causes listeriosis, an infection that produces flu-like symptoms. Pikesville Crime: Burglar Breaks into Trader Joe's

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Lochearn Laurel Drive. 6700 block. Between 10 p.m. Sept. 16 and 8 a.m. Sept. 17. A burglar went into a vehicle parked in the victim's driveway, but nothing was reported taken. Liberty Road. 6300 block. Between 6 a.m. Aug. 13 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 17. A burglar broke through the side balcony door of a home, took some items and cut copper piping from the basement, and left through the same door. It's unknown how the burglar left with the piping, two TVs, a nightstand, desk, washing machine, assorted entertainment items, a gas grill and lawnmower. Milford Mill Kenmar Road. 3600 block. Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Linked to Salmonella Outbreak

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is recommending that people who shop at Trader Joe's avoid its peanut butter products.

People who shop at Trader Joe's are being warned to avoid its peanut butter due to an ongoing investigation into a multi-state outbreak of salmonella, according to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The department is asking that people not consume Trader Joe’s brand Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter made with sea salt, but it warned that other peanut butter products could also be contaminated, according to a press release. Officials say customers should set aside any peanut butter they've bought recently. Maryland officials are working with several state health departments, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the salmonella outbreak.
