Cement tree planters in Greenspring Shopping Center parking lot—including the trees in them—were torn down and removed Thursday from in front of Sunoco and Rite Aid.
Some businesses were without power and closed Monday, while others were partially or fully operational.
Some businesses in Greenspring Shopping Center on Smith Avenue in Pikesville were closed Monday because they had no electrical power. But some, like Shoppers Food, were fully operating. At the center, it was hit-or-miss whether a store would have power. Outside Miller's Delicatessen, a sidewalk sign announced that there would be only cold food served. Inside, the seating area and some refrigerated beverage coolers were illuminated, but the kitchen area in the center was dark. "We are a three-phase [electrical] system, so we lost one phase," said owner Jeff Karlin. "Our refrigeration is on ... but our exhaust fans are not. So that's why we're not cooking." Wow! Was I wrong. I haven't been back today to see how many came down. Maybe they took out only those few in front of Rite Aid and Sunoco. Did anyone see?   more ›
