Stamps and Priority Mail services went up in price Sunday, and a new worldwide stamp is now available, so here's a handy list of the new rates from the U.S. Postal Service.
The cost of sending most letters and packages jumped slightly Sunday when the U.S. Postal Service upped its rates to help cover the costs of delivering the mail. Forever Stamps, the ones that remain good despite future postal rate increases, will increase to 46 cents. Here's a rundown of price increases: The USPS will also introduce a new First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp. The stamp allows people to mail letters anywhere in the world for $1.10. It's a federal holiday Monday, so county offices and services, as well as the US Postal Service are not operating.
Don't rush to the post office today. It's closed. As the US celebrates the federal holiday Memorial Day, there are more offices and services that are also closed. For example, there will be no trash or recycling pick up in Baltimore County today, according to a news release from the county executive's office. If your trash or yard waste are usually picked up on Monday, leave it out because it will be picked up on Tuesday, the release states. But hold your Monday recyclables for pickup next week, Monday, June 4. Throughout the week, trash in the county might be picked up later than usual. The rule of thumb? All post offices in the Baltimore district will be closed.
Monday is Columbus Day and all post offices in ZIP codes beginning with 210 through 219 will be closed, according to Yvette Singh, communications coordinator for the Baltimore District of the U.S. Postal Service. That includes the Pikesville Post Office. On Monday, delivery is limited to Express Mail in the metropolitan area, she said in a news release. Regular deilvery will resume Tuesday.
