Mild Weather Brings Pikesvillians Outside

Temperatures were in the mid-50s on Saturday and Sunday in Pikesville. Monday's high could be 59 degrees, although it could be cloudy.

The sun and temperatures in the mid-50s meant it was time to get out and walk at Quarry Lake. Dozens of people traversed all or part of the lake perimeter, while others strolled the shops' sidewalks. Patrons of Starbucks and Pizza Blitz enjoyed the day at those businesses' outside seating. On Monday, the National Weather Service forecasts clouds in the Pikesville area, although the high temperature could reach 59 degrees. It could rain overnight Monday, into Tuesday morning.

Pikesville Crime: Pizza Delivery Driver Ambushed and Robbed

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Pikesville Precinct. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, it does not necessarily indicate a conviction.

A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint this weekend on Marsue Drive. At 7:10 p.m., the driver delivered a pizza to top floor of an apartment building in the 6900 block of Marsue Drive in Pikesville, according to a report by Baltimore County police. However, a robber was waiting for him on the first floor, pointing a black, long-barreled handgun at him, the report states. The thief stole cash, a cell phone and the pizza in a pizza bag. The name of the pizza store was not immediately available in the report.

Pikesville Crime: 4 Teens Arrested in Armed Robbery

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Four Pikesville teenagers were arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a Pizza Boli driver near their homes on May 25, authorities said. Baltimore County police said that Brandon Hudson Rohrback, 18, and Bruno Pozzo, 18, both of different homes in the 700 block of Cloudyfold Drive, were among those arrested. The other two arrested were a 15-year-old, who was charged as a juvenile, and Billy Antonio Evans, 16, who was charged as an adult. Both also reside in different homes on Cloudyfold Drive, according to a May 27 police report. At about 11:12 p.m. May 25, a delivery driver from the restaurant at 610 Reisterstown Road, was taking food to a home on Cloudyfold Drive, the report states. PHOTO OF THE DAY: A Place To Relax

Pizza Blitz has new outdoor seating with umbrellas, in time for the pleasant weather that's expected this weekend.

The rain seems to have cleared for today, good weather for taking a seat outside, like the new setup at Pizza Blitz in the Shops at Quarry Lake. There are about 16 new chairs at the pizza, subs, pasta and salads restaurant, as well as two new umbrellas. Pizza fans and Wifi crowds alike (the Wifi is fast and uninterrupted, from what I've experienced) should take note of this new meeting spot.

Patching at Pizza Blitz

I went for a drive through the shopping center at Quarry Lake and stopped in for the first time at Pizza Blitz, where I found delicious pizza made from an Italian recipe.

Employee Justin Golliday at Pizza Blitz said the pizza here is the best in Baltimore. I tried a slice: cheese pizza with black and green olives and mushrooms—and it was fantastic. It had a delicately crispy crust, thick toppings, and was very tasty. While I've tried only a few pizza places in the Baltimore area, I recommend giving Pizza Blitz a try. Owner Luigi Starace—who has been in the restaurant business for 15 years, both in Naples, Italy, and in the U.S.—says he uses an old, Italian recipe passed down through generations. "We make it the way people used to make it back in our country," And they use fresh ingredients, he said. Of course, he won't share that recipe (I asked what makes it so good!). Starache said he chose Pikesville for…
