Pikesville VFC Plans Golf Tournament

The fire company is seeking golfers and sponsors for the July event.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company is seeking sponsors and golfers for its third annual golf tournament. The tournament will be held July 22 at Suburban Country Club. Proceeds help pay for the company's emergency equipment, fuel, supplies and operations, according to the company's website. Information on registration or sponsorship can be found there, too. Pikesville organizations have new Internet creations.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company has redesigned its website, and is looking for feedback. Visit the fire company's website to get information on recent calls, as well as its annual fundraising golf tournament in July. Computer Services Unlimited has a new Facebook page. It's a business owned by Pikesville residents. Easta La Vista is one of Pikesville's newest restaurants. It offers kosher Middle Eastern cuisine, and the menu is updated regularly. Hall of Fame Inducts PVFC Member

Bill Levin, who died earlier this year, was inducted posthumously on Sept. 22.

Bill Levin has been posthumously named to the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame.  Levin joined the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company in 1988 and served for 24 years. He passed away earlier this year, according to a company news release. Norma Levin, who is his widow, and Richard Berkowitz, company president, accepted the recognition Sept. 22 on Bill Levin's behalf. Levin is the 22nd member of the company to be named to the Hall of Fame. "Bill was a dedicated volunteer for the community," Berkowitz said in a statement. "He's perhaps best known as the firefighter who would often respond to the station from his home for all calls—no matter how small, and no matter how late at night the pager went off."

Flash Fire Overtakes Seven Mile Lane Home

Occupants were laying flooring with flammable glue when a flame ignited it, a fire official said at the scene.

A fire fueled flammable glue caused nearly $75,000 damage to an upper Park Heights home Sunday morning. No one was injured, according to Lt. Edmund Schwartz, Jr. of the Baltimore County Fire Department's Station No. 2 in Pikesville. The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company and Station 2 were called to the home in the 7500 Seven Mile Lane in Pikesville, near Suburban Orthodox Congregation at 11:20 a.m. "The occupants were putting in new flooring in the kitchen with flammable glue," Schwartz said. When firefighters arrived, they saw a lit candle on a table in the front room, he said. Schwartz said the "candle or pilot light" ignited a flash fire. Fill the Firefighter Boot at Park Heights and Old Court

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company is accepting donations from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Volunteers from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company are asking for donations this afternoon. The company's Fill the Boot campaign is being held from 4-8 p.m. today at the intersection of Park Heights Avenue and Old Court Road. Dig up some change or bills and divert your commute this evening to help out with our local group. Funds raised helps pay for expenses, including firefighter uniforms and equipment, and the new heavy rescue vehicle and ambulance.

Volunteer Fire Company To Host Golf Tournament

Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company's second annual tournament is July 16 at Suburban Club.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company will hold its second annual golf tournament on July 16 at the Suburban Club. Registration is scheduled for 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The event is going to be a fundraiser with various types of sponsorships available to golfers.  The cost will be $125 per person or $500 for a foursome.  There's also going to be a hole-in-one contest ($25,000) plus other competitions, including long drive, closest-to-the-pin (on a par three), top three foursomes and door prizes. PVFC: Girl Injured at Garrison Forest School

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company responded to an injury that reportedly occurred during a horse show Sunday.

A girl was injured in a horse show Sunday morning, and was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma by Medevac helicopter, according to fire officials. A 9-year-old had been thrown from a horse at Garrison Forest School, the report from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company states. It offers pre-kindergarten (co-ed) through 12th grade, and boarding for students in eighth to twelfth grades. Correction: The original version of this story listed the incorrect hospital. Obituary: PVFC Firefighter Bill Levin

Levin, 65, was a member of Temple Oheb Shalom and the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce.

Bill Levin, longtime Pikesville Volunteer Company firefighter, died Friday at the Gilchrest Center. Levin was an officer with the company for 24 years, and was a member of Temple Oheb Shalom and the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, according to an article in the Baltimore Sun. The fire company held a birthday party for Levin on April 25, when members awarded him a Life Time Member certificate, according to the PVFC website. "Engine 321, Squad 322, Tower 323, Medic 325, and Utility 329—with nearly two dozen PVFC members aboard—made a very important non-emergency response to Greater Baltimore Medical Center," in celebration of Levin's 65th birthday, the website states.
