Two 14-year-old boys stole another's backpack by throwing a basketball at his head. At 6:19 p.m. Sunday, an Owings Mills teen, 14, who is a student at Old Court Middle School, was walking along Old Court Road at Winands Road when the teens stopped him, struck his head with the ball and took his backpack. He got the backpack back, and nothing had been taken from it. According to the report written Sunday, charges had not been filed. One of the suspects is from Windsor Mill, and the other from Randallstown.

A man was robbed at Old Court Middle School Monday night. Between 11:20-11:30 p.m. Monday, two males threatened the man, 46, with a black, semi-automatic handgun that was covered with a bandana. One robber went through his pockets and took two cell phones, his wallet, cigarettes, cash and identification cards. The robbers ran toward Scotts Level Road, but police did not find them.

With the parking lot resurfaced in recent weeks, the center looks better than it has in years.
There's a new look at Liberty Court shopping center in Randallstown. You know the area—it has Aldi's, Wendy's, Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet and the Randallstown Branch Library, and is located at the intersection of Liberty and Old Court roads. Burglars tried to break into the food bank at Pikesville Seventh Day Adventist Church this month, police said. At 7:33 p.m. July 25, a worker at the church told police that he noticed someone had cut the window screen and had thrown a rock at the window of the food bank, according to a Baltimore County Police report. It could have occurred between July 21-25, at the church located at 4619 Old Court Rd., it states. The only damage was to the rear window screen.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company is accepting donations from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Volunteers from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company are asking for donations this afternoon. The company's Fill the Boot campaign is being held from 4-8 p.m. today at the intersection of Park Heights Avenue and Old Court Road. Dig up some change or bills and divert your commute this evening to help out with our local group. Funds raised helps pay for expenses, including firefighter uniforms and equipment, and the new heavy rescue vehicle and ambulance.

A bedroom window screen was damaged and three Louis Vuitton purses, one wallet and a Wii gaming system were reported missing. Sugarloaf Court. Unit block. Between 10 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Saturday. A rear apartment window was shattered with a concrete slab. The master bedroom and second-story bedroom had were, and items were reported missing. Those items include: a $700 Trek mountain bike; a $100 safe and papers inside; a $20 purple jewelry box and 32 pairs of earrings valued at $160. The burglar left through the sliding-glass door. Plenty of problems remain as of Saturday night.
Pikesville still was suffering from plenty of damage from the storm that tore through the region. After the extreme heat during the day Friday — temperatures over 100 with heat indices that pushed past 110 — the huge storm hit late Friday. There was a lot of damage, enough for Gov. Martin O'Malley to issue a state of emergency for the state due to the harsh storms, high temperatures and long period of time it's expected to recover. On Saturday night, many traffic lights remained out and numerous neighborhoods were without power. Various reports have said that, in certain situations, it could take days to fix everything. Walgreens in downtown Pikesville is completed and is open, with its grand opening celebration set for Thursday. Celebration plans include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, food and entertainment, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store, 1510 Reisterstown Road. Kosher food will be served as well, the chamber said in an announcement. The second Walgreens in Pikesville opens Friday as part of the company's statewide expansion.
When the second Pikesville Walgreens opens this morning at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads, it will be the first of several new stores throughout the state. A grand opening celebration is set for April 19 at the new Pikesville store, according to a report in Convenience Store News. There will be free giveaways and children's activities during the event. The new store is located at 1504 Reisterstown Road, in the now-renovated site of the former Staples store. The office supply store is now located a block south in the Pikesville Shopping Center.
