UPDATE: Kosher Middle Eastern Restaurant Opens in Alley Shops

The business opened Monday and Pikesville and will plan a grand opening celebration in a few weeks.

UPDATE (Jan. 8)—There's a new kosher restaurant in downtown Pikesville: Easta La Vista, featuring Middle Eastern cuisine. The restaurant, located at 1330 Reisterstown Road—the former site of Paradiso Italian Grill and Bar—opened Monday, but owners plan a grand opening in a few weeks, according to an email from the business. There's an Easta La Vista website that bears the same logo: a smiling chef holding two plates, including one with shish kebobs. However, that site is not yet accurate, a representative from the restaurant said Jan. 8. There is no restaurant in D.C. as that website states, she said. The 'soft opening' menu, which costs $12.99 for adults, includes choice of entrees: meatballs, shawarma, kabobs, shnitzel and Moroccan fish…

Baltimore County Executive: The opening of the Walmart Super Center in 2012 in Randallstown likely means more retail, services and other businesses will follow.

If you're a Randallstown resident, shopping might mean trekking out to Owings Mills or Catonsville. But come fall 2012, the planned Walmart Super Center at Liberty Plaza will offer a full-service grocery, bakery, deli, pharmacy and outdoor living department. On Tuesday, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz led a demolition celebration at the plaza, located at Liberty and Benbrook roads in Randallstown, to herald the new store's construction there. During the ceremony, one of the few remaining walls of the former Valu Food store was torn down before an audience of about 40 people. "Randallstown deserves what the rest of the world has to offer," Kamenetz said before the dramatic demolition. "This Walmart could attract some other national …

New Subway Store Likely to Open in September

A Subway representative said the equipment for the Woodholme Square store has been ordered.

Pikesville's newest Subway restaurant, located at Woodholme Square shopping center, could open by September, a spokesman for the corporation said. "I would be guessing in September—as a rough estimate," said Rob Wilson, public relations coordinator for Subway World Headquarters in Milford, CT. Wilson based his estimate on how long it usually takes to open stores, and the fact that the equipment for the eatery has already been ordered. He said he did not have information about the store's owner or a definite opening date, and referred those questions to Subway's development office. The new store is located at 1866 Reisterstown Road, Suite 108, the location of a former pizza restaurant. Subway has 35,000 stores located in 98 countries, …

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced today that by 2012, the Liberty Road Plaza shopping center will be home to a $10 million Walmart Super Center.

A new $10 million Walmart Super Center is expected to bring more than 450 new jobs to Randallstown over the next few years, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced Monday afternoon. He chose the parking lot at a far end of the defunct Liberty Road Plaza Shopping Center at Liberty and Benbrook roads to announce that an aged promise to the community has been fulfilled—the development of the run-down plaza property, and the largest economic boon the community has had in years. It was Valentine's Day, so Kamenetz tailored his vernacular for the day, and announced the "marriage of Centro Properties and Walmart," and the arrival of "that really good-looking Super Walmart." "You know on Valentine's Day, you give a gift to the people you love. …
