During National Night Out on Tuesday, residents gathered in front of the pool at the community located in Garrison, to visit with neighbors, Baltimore County police and members of the police Explorers group.
The smell of grilled hotdogs and hamburgers wafted down the hill as children greeted McGruff the Crime Dog. Other kids played with gliders while neighbors visited with each other and police. It was National Night Out Tuesday in Queen Anne Village, and the homeowners group launched a cookout that attracted dozens of residents. "I'm hoping we will bring the community together, where they will know each other as neighbors and help each other out," said Brian Clevenger, vice president for the Queen Anne Village Homeowners Association. The community was in the news earlier this year when a multiple stabbing occurred. It's National Night Out, and community groups are holding events throughout the Pikesville and Woodlawn precincts of the Baltimore County Police Department.
UPDATE (3:49 p.m.)—The Sudbrook Park National Night Out event has been canceled. The Baltimore County Police Department, elected officials, local celebrities and county civic groups will mark the 29th anniversary of National Night Out on Tuesday. It's a time to meet with Baltimore County police, McGruff the Crime Dog, and members of your community, and come up with ways to support crime prevention. The department asks anyone who participates to put in a blue light bulb in their porch light, and turn it on from 6-11 p.m. It's "a peaceful way to display participation in National Night Out," according to a news release from police. During National Night Out, Valleybrook residents listened to the music of a steel drum band, ate hotdogs and mingled with neighbors and special visitors. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Councilwoman Vicki Almond and police Chief Jim Johnson chose to attend the Randallstown community's event, as well as several others held throughout the county. The evening event was held at Winand Elementary School on Scotts Level Road.

Growth association held its first National Night Out event Tuesday in Randallstown.
The new Olde Mille Estates Growth Association pulled out all the stops Tuesday for its National Night Out event. There was a moon bounce, and the movie "Despicable Me" played on a large screen in a field. There was food, games, a singing group and more. When McGruff the Crime Dog and officers from the Pikesville Precinct showed up, their presence was announced over the loudspeaker and children flocked around them. Residents held a community gathering Tuesday to mingle and visit with police during National Night Out.
It's difficult to miss the emergency-orange ball caps worn by members of the Willow Glen South Improvement Association. Add a bright orange shirt, and in Sheila Jackson's case, bright orange tennis shoes, and you have one visible event. Association members and members of the Willow Glen South Citizens on Patrol group gathered Tuesday to hold the community's National Night Out event.
