Officials cut the ribbon Monday on three years worth of renovations at Milford Mill Academy. Superintendent S. Dallas Dance and state officials attended the event, which included tours and performances at the high school, ABC2 reports. “It’s bringing Milford Mill into the 21st century,” Roderick Harden Sr., the school's principal, told WJZ. The Milford Mill project resulted in a new 4,800-square-foot addition that includes a new gymnasium and renovations to the school’s cosmetology, carpentry and other technology labs, media center, auditorium, black box theater and general purpose classrooms. The academy and Woodlawn High School marching bands will participate in Baltimore County's annual event Sunday at Stevenson University.
The Milford Mill Academy and Woodlawn High School marching bands will be among the county bands to perform at the Baltimore County Public Schools system's showcase Sunday in Owings Mills. Also performing will be Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts, Sparrows Point High School, Dulaney, Franklin, Loch Raven, New Town, Perry Hall and Towson high schools. The event is at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stevenson University’s Mustang Stadium in Owings Mills. Each band will perform in the 24th Annual Marching Band Showcase individually, and then join in a mass band performance at the end. A Milford Mill Academy student who was stabbed Monday while walking toward Rockdale Terrace was also robbed, police said. Some media reports question whether the student was somehow involved in the robbery. But, according to a Baltimore County Police report, the student was the victim. At about 11:55 a.m. Monday, two males approached the 17-year-old boy behind the school at 3800 Washington Ave., and demanded his cell phone, the report states. "The victim placed the suspect in a headlock. After a short struggle the suspect stabbed the victim in his right thigh," it states. He was taken to a local hospital. A school official told WBAL Radio on Monday that the victim had left the school without permission, according to a WBAL Radio report.

A Milford Mill Academy student was reportedly stabbed Monday on a street near the school.
A Milford Mill Academy student was stabbed Monday afternoon as he walked along Rockdale Terrace near the school in Milford Mill, according to a WBAL Radio report. A school official told WBAL Radio that the student had left the school early and without permission. While the student walked along Rockdale Terrace, he was robbed and stabbed, the report states. He walked back to the school at 3800 Washington Ave. where he got medical treatment and was taken to the hospital. According to a Fox News report, the student is 16 years old had "multiple leg wounds."

Nine student basketball and football players from northwest Baltimore County will be among the 112 athletes to be honored next month as McCormick Unsung Heroes. The girls and boys teams lost games this weekend, taking them out of the running for 3A Region titles.
Milford Mill's boys and girls basketball teams were each defeated last weekend in Class 3A North Region finals. The boys lost Saturday to Baltimore City's Patterson, 75-72.
