City, County, State Honor Maryland's Olympians

Michael Phelps and six other Maryland athletes were celebrated at the Inner Harbor on Monday.

What better ride for the pride of Baltimore than The Pride of Baltimore? The Pride of Baltimore II delivered Olympians and dignitaries to the amphitheater of Baltimore's Inner Harbor as Baltimore and Maryland saluted its Olympic and Paralympic athletes in a ceremony Monday afternoon. Though all seven athletes in attendance—including pentathlete Suzanne Stettinius of Parkton, rower David Banks of Potomac, windsurfer Farrah Hall of Annapolis, cyclist Bobby Lea of Easton, former University of Maryland field hockey player Katie O'Donnell and kayaker Scott Parsons of Bethesda—were recognized, the day belonged largely to Michael Phelps, the Rodgers Forge swimmer who, with his six medals from London, is now the most decorated Olympian of all time…

Phelps Conquers 200IM For First London Solo Gold

Michael Phelps set an Olympic record, making more history with his latest gold medal.

Michael Phelps set an Olympic record and earned his first individual gold in the London Olympics on Thursday evening, as he edged teammate Ryan Lochte in the 200-meter individualized medley. With the win, the Huffington Post reports, the Rodgers Forge native is the first male swimmer to earn gold in the same event in three Olympics. Phelps finished with a time of 1:54.27, just six-tenths of a second ahead of Lochte. Hungarian Lazlo Cseh took the bronze. The win continues another historic Olympics for Phelps, who with 20 medals—16 gold, two silver and two bronze—stands alone as the most decorated Olympian in history, with two events left before the week is out.
