Giant Foods stores are holding an event from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at all its locations, including in Pikesville.
Giant Food is 77 years old, and there will be birthday parties Wednesday in all 170 Giant Food stores. All customers and community members are invited for free birthday cake from 3-8 p.m., according to a news release from Giant Food. The Giant in Pikesville is located at 3757 Old Court Rd.

The Ripken name has been shared on a variety of products in the last 30 years. Now, get ready for the Ripken Gourmet Burger. In a partnership with Roseda Beef and Giant Food, Ripken Baseball announced Tuesday the Ripken Gourmet Burger, which will be available in 30 Giant Food stores in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia beginning this summer. The 6-oz. locally grown Black Angus burgers will come in boxes of four and benefit the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation. The burger debuted at the 2011 Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen. The Old Court/Stevenson/Park Heights intersection has to be the worst. That light takes about 6 minutes to change on Park heights southbound there in the a.m. rush, and there are always accidents there! It is difficult at 5pm to get onto park heights or Stevenson from Old Court My 2nd place would be a yes to those who say McDonough and Iron Horse/crossroads.
