How's the Price? Greenspring Shell after Renovations

On Monday night, regular gasoline was $3.37 per gallon, three cents higher than the $3.34 per gallon at the Mobil station at 1509 Reisterstown Road.

Some Pikesville Patch Facebook fans have said in the past that Shell at Greenspring Shopping Center had higher prices than some other stations in Pikesville. But, since Shell reopened after renovations this fall, the prices seem comparable. Have you noticed? And how can anyone help but notice the TV set up at each gas pump? Here are the lowest gasoline prices elsewhere in Pikesville, according to Pikesville Patch's Commute tool. This tool, located under "More Stuff" on the home page, lists prices, addresses and maps of where to get gasoline in Pikesville. Click on Commute any time you need to fill up your vehicle.  It also allows you to find prices in Randallstown, Owings Mills and Garrison. What's your opinion about the renovations and …

I used to get the best gas mileage when I purchased my gas at this Shell station; I always figured it was because the other stations were watering down their gas (using more ethanol). Since the lower prices at this station, however, my mileage has been the same as if I purchased my gas elsewhere.   more ›

PHOTO: Shell Station Pumping Gasoline after Renovations

The Shell station at Greenspring Shopping Center is open again.

New gasoline pumps are operating at the Shell Station on Smith Avenue in the Greenspring area. The station, which is the sole station in the neighborhood, is open again after about a month of renovations. It's located at 2859 Smith Ave., and also offers a service bay. The site also sports a new, digital sign. What do you think of the renovations at Shell, and how about those prices in the photo taken Friday?

Cheapest Gas Price Along Reisterstown Road: $3.51

We drove Reisterstown Road through Pikesville and south across the Baltimore City line to find the cheapest gasoline prices.

In need of another fill-up without breaking the bank? At Patch, we did the search for you. And again, we found that, generally, the further south you drive on Reisterstown Road, away from I-695, the cheaper the gasoline tends to be. The Winners: The cheapest gas Wednesday afternoon was found just across the Baltimore City line at the BP station, located at 4101 Patterson Ave. at Reisterstown Road, where regular gasoline was $3.51 per gallon. The silver grade was $3.69 and ultimate was $3.75. Gulf, located at 6315 Reisterstown Road, shared the same low price for regular gasoline at $3.51 per gallon, but its plus and premium grade prices were higher at $3.71 and $3.81, respectively. The Runner-Up: We found the next-best deal at BP, located …

Cheapest Gas Along Reisterstown Road: $3.58 Per Gallon

A drive through Pikesville shows that the cheaper prices can be found—again—toward the Baltimore City line.

The winner: The cheapest price we found was at the Citgo station, 7101 Reisterstown Road, across from the Colonial Shopping Center. Regular gas was available there for $3.58 per gallon on Tuesday afternoon. This station also had unleaded gas available for $3.77 per gallon, also the best in this area. The ultimate gas at this station also was the lowest in the area, tied with the Exxon station at 1803 Reisterstown Road, just north of the Beltway—both at $3.89. The runner-up: Finishing second was the BP station at 524 Reisterstown Road, about a mile south of the Beltway, near the city line. That station had regular grade for $3.61…

Cheapest Gasoline Along Reisterstown Road: $3.64 Per Gallon

We drove Reisterstown Road through Pikesville and north across Owings Mills Boulevard to find the cheapest gasoline.

Rather than make our usual trek up and down Reisterstown Road solely in Pikesville, we decided to do an experiment to find out if gasoline prices are cheaper further north in Owings Mills. We hate to break it to you our beloved Pikesvillians, but gas is a few cents cheaper outside our neighborhoods. The Winner: The cheapest gas Monday afternoon was found at BP, located at 10231 Reisterstown Road, by the Painters Mill Shopping Center, where regular gasoline cost $3.64 per gallon. Silver cost $3.74, the same as regular gas at Pikesville locations, and ultimate cost $3.89. The Runner-Up: The next-best deal was $3.69 per gallon of regular, which can be found at the BP at 9604 Reistertown Road by Greenspring Valley Road; at Shell, located at …
