Pikes Diner To Reduce Restaurant Area, Lease Some Space

The business plans renovations in October and to lease the other portion of the building.

The owner of The Pikes Diner plans some changes in the coming month, including renovations, reducing the size of the restaurant, and leasing out part of the space. In mid-October, the restaurant will close for 10 days for renovations, and then will reopen, said Scott Reich, spokesman for The Pikes. Pikesville Crime: Burglar Breaks into Trader Joe's

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Lochearn Laurel Drive. 6700 block. Between 10 p.m. Sept. 16 and 8 a.m. Sept. 17. A burglar went into a vehicle parked in the victim's driveway, but nothing was reported taken. Liberty Road. 6300 block. Between 6 a.m. Aug. 13 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 17. A burglar broke through the side balcony door of a home, took some items and cut copper piping from the basement, and left through the same door. It's unknown how the burglar left with the piping, two TVs, a nightstand, desk, washing machine, assorted entertainment items, a gas grill and lawnmower. Milford Mill Kenmar Road. 3600 block. Reisterstown Woman Convicted of Abusing Vulnerable Adult

The group home worker was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months of probation for abusing a disabled resident in a group home near Randallstown.

Olufunke Rachel Anifowose, 36, of Reisterstown, was found guilty of abuse in the second degree for causing a burn on a group home resident. Judge Kathleen G. Cox in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County sentenced her to 18 months in prison, all suspended, and placed her on 18 months of probation, according to a news release from the Maryland Attorney General's Office. The incident occurred near Randallstown on Feb. 6, 2011 when the victim was under the sole care of Anifowose, the release states. The victim was burned on her left cheek, and a family member found the burn, it states. During probation, Anifowose cannot supervise vulnerable adults. Help Police Find a Missing Woman

Mary Elizabeth Tisdale was reported missing Sept. 20 from an assisted living facility.

Police need help in finding a Woodlawn woman. Mary Elizabeth Tisdale, 62, was reported missing Sept. 20, and hasn't been seen since she left her assisted living facility in the 5900 block of Central Ave. in the Gwynn Oak area. She's a black female who is 5-foot 5-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, according to a news release from Baltimore County police's Woodlawn precinct. She was last seen at about 1:15 p.m. Sept. 20 wearing a white jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes—the same as in two of the photos that are attached to this article. Baltimore County Police are asking for help finding her. She was reported missing soon after she left, but detectives haven't been able to find her. She didn't tell anyone where she was going. Burglars Use Crowbar to Steal Cash from Deli

Steel doors and a locked cash register didn't stop burglars at the Knish Shop in Pikesville, authorities said. Between 1:34 and 1:38 a.m. on Thursday, two men in black ski masks pried open the rear doors with a crowbar and then pried open the register, police said. They took a cash drawer with $750 and a change bag with about $100 from the deli at 508 Reisterstown Road, according to a police report. The suspects left in a white, 15-passenger van with tinted windows, according to the report. One suspect wore a plaid coat and black jeans, while the other wore a black hooded coat and blue jeans, the police report stated.

PHOTOS: Fall Festival Rocks the Quarry

The Pikesville Chamber of Commerce put together an event of music, vendors, food and games.

It was the first, full day of autumn when the Orioles Bird and and McGruff The Crime Dog greeted visitors to the second annual Morgan Stanley Quarry Lake Fall Fest. The weather was sunny and breezy Sunday, and about 70 vendors were set up along Quarry Lake Drive, including the Maryland Artisan Guild, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, Island Quizine, and the Pikesville Police & Community Relations Council. Two bands took the stage, and there were two dozen Corvettes to view from two different clubs. The proceeds benefitted the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce. Flash Fire Overtakes Seven Mile Lane Home

Occupants were laying flooring with flammable glue when a flame ignited it, a fire official said at the scene.

A fire fueled flammable glue caused nearly $75,000 damage to an upper Park Heights home Sunday morning. No one was injured, according to Lt. Edmund Schwartz, Jr. of the Baltimore County Fire Department's Station No. 2 in Pikesville. The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company and Station 2 were called to the home in the 7500 Seven Mile Lane in Pikesville, near Suburban Orthodox Congregation at 11:20 a.m. "The occupants were putting in new flooring in the kitchen with flammable glue," Schwartz said. When firefighters arrived, they saw a lit candle on a table in the front room, he said. Schwartz said the "candle or pilot light" ignited a flash fire.
