Here's a list of early voting sites in Baltimore County, including those near to Pikesville, in Randallstown, Towson and Catonsville.
UPDATE (3:07 p.m.)-If storms from Hurricane Sandy hit Maryland, it could affect early voting that's set for Saturday through Thursday. According to a news release from Gov. Martin O'Malley, the election law allows for postponing early voting during a state of emergency, or it could change the voting locations or voting systems. O'Malley declared a state of emergency on Friday, in anticipation of the storm. "The Governor’s Office and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency are actively monitoring weather developments in order to determine whether changes to the early voting schedule may be necessary to protect public safety," it states. Campus police Thursday morning warned students to delay coming to campus and to stay inside.
12:32 p.m. Update: "Search completed, strong evidence suspect no longer in area," an update on UMBC's Twitter page read Thursday after law enforcement found the weapon used by a suspected gunman. "Weapon recovered from suspect's vehicle. Resume normal activities." 10:50 Update: Several police cars are at the intersection of Walker Avenue and Hilltop Circle on the western edge of campus. UMBC police officials have scheduled a briefing for 11 a.m. to discuss reports of a person with a gun on campus. The police are currently actively searching for this person, according to sources. Terror suspect was in court Thursday.
The Baltimore-area man caught by the FBI attempting to detonate a fake bomb outside a Catonsville military recruiting station pleaded guilty Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Antonio Martinez, 22, who had lived in Baltimore and Woodlawn, was arrested Dec. 8, 2010 after FBI agents working undercover gave him a fake bomb to detonate outside the Armed Forces Recruitment Center on Baltimore National Pike. He came to the attention of federal law enforcement officials in October 2010 when he began an association with an informant for the FBI, according to a federal criminal complaint. Group of freshman lawmakers say they will focus on specific needs of their districts
A majority of the five new Baltimore County Council members who will be sworn in next week say they will focus on issues pertaining to planning and revitalization in their districts during their first year in office. Council members-elect Vicki Almond and Tom Quirk, both Democrats, and David Marks, a Republican, said they would focus on issues such as smart growth, revitalization of the downtown areas of Pikesville and Towson and seeing that community plans in their districts are adopted into law.
