Former Terp Juan Dixon to Coach Summer Basketball Camp

The former University of Maryland basketball star and Calvert Hall alum will also appear at Towson Town Center for a meet and greet with fans on Saturday.

Former Terrapins and Washington Wizards guard Juan Dixon will be coaching basketball this summer in Pikesville and Owings Mills. Dixon, along with former Towson University coach Terry Truax, are coaches for Premier Basketball Camp, which will hold sessions this July and August at Garrison Forest School and The Park School of Baltimore for boys and girls aged 8-17. Selected in the first round of the NBA Draft in 2002 by the Washington Wizards, Dixon was a college basketball star at the University of Maryland College Park. St. Timothy's Basketball Wins Conference Championships

The team earned a 57-37 win over Catholic in the IAAM C Conference championship earlier this month at Goucher College.

St. Timothy's varsity basketball team ruled the court this year, by winning its conference championships. Read the full story on St. Timothy's School website. The private girls school's team is in the IAMM C Conference, and defeated Catholic to take the championship title. "It was the first IAAM championship for St. Timothy’s basketball since the 2004-05 season," according to the school's website. "St. Timothy’s finished the season at 20-1 overall and 18-0 in the C Conference, and ended with a 20-game win streak. Catholic finished at 18-7 overall and 12-5 in the IAAM."

Teen Robbers Use Basketball To Steal Student's Backpack

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Two 14-year-old boys stole another's backpack by throwing a basketball at his head. At 6:19 p.m. Sunday, an Owings Mills teen, 14, who is a student at Old Court Middle School, was walking along Old Court Road at Winands Road when the teens stopped him, struck his head with the ball and took his backpack. He got the backpack back, and nothing had been taken from it. According to the report written Sunday, charges had not been filed. One of the suspects is from Windsor Mill, and the other from Randallstown.

Former Randallstown Star Picked in NBA Draft

Kim English was picked by Detroit in the second round of Thursday night's NBA draft.

Kim English gave Thursday's NBA Draft a bit of a local flavor. English played basketball for Randallstown High School before moving on to play at Missouri. He grew into a solid player there, and the Detroit Pistons noticed, picking him in the second round of the draft. English is a 6-foot-6-inch, 200-pound guard who became an outstanding player with Missouri. Boys Basketball: Charm City Team Beats Capital Area

With help from Milford Mill's players and Coach Al Holley, Charm City wins Sunday’s Mid-Atlantic Showcase all-star game, 118-89. The game was part of the Roundball Classic at North Hagerstown High School.

Milford Basketball Gets Bad Bounce

The Milford boys and girls both suffer tough losses in Class 3A North Region finals.

Being forced to watch someone celebrate a championship in front of you is one of the toughest things in sports. The Milford Mill Academy basketball program had to do it twice last weekend. The Millers lost in the both boys and girls Class 3A North Region finals. The girls came first, dropping an 84-66 decision to Aberdeen on the road Friday night. Then, on Saturday afternoon, Patterson’s boys rallied to edge host Milford Mill, 75-72. The girls ran into a very strong Aberdeen team that heads into the state semifinals with a 25-1 record. Center Bri Jones scored 40 points and was just too much for Milford Mill, which had won 25 in a row itself before this game. Basketball: Milford Mill Advances in Playoffs

In Class 3A North regional playoffs this week, the Millers boys defeated Aberdeen and the girls beat C.M. Wright.

  Milford Mill's boys basketball team defeated  Aberdeen High School in a Class 3A North region quarterfinal game 75-57 on Tuesday. The Millers, the top seed in the region, host Woodlawn at 7 p.m. tonight. Woodlawn advanced with a 77-29 win over C.M. Wright.  On the girls side, Milford Mill advanced to the region finals with a 57-51 win over C.M. Wright in the 3A North semifinals, maintaining its undefeated season. The Millers now advance to the regional finals at 7 p.m. Friday when they travel to top-seeded Aberdeen. According to an article in the Baltimore Sun, that game is the only area girls game this weekend that involves two ranked teams.
