An 18-year-old man stands accused of attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, among other charges.
Police have charged an 18-year-old man in the shooting of an off-duty police officer in Overlea. Essex resident Michael Jabateh, 18, was charged with attempted first degree murder after an incident in which police describe a man opening fire on a car driven by an off-duty police officer. The officer was trying to maneuver his personal car through a crowd of juveniles and young adults that blocked the roadway after leaving a party in 700 block of Dale Avenue. The burglaries occurred during the month of November at a number of Verizon Wireless stores.
Baltimore County Police are investigating the similarities between four burglaries at cell phone stores in Baltimore and Harford Counties. In each case a Verizon Wireless store was ransacked and a large number of cell phones were stolen. None of the burglaries showed any sign of forced entry and in each instance, burglar alarms were apparently deactivated. "Detectives are aware of some similarities between the burglaries at Verizon stores, and we are working with detectives in Harford County to determine if the crimes are connected," said Cpl. Ronald White, 49, is arrested on evidence allegedly matching his DNA in another case.
Baltimore County police have charged a Baltimore man with rape based on DNA evidence from a 1997 crime. Ronald White, 49, of the 2800 block of Forest Glen Road in northwest Baltimore, was arrested Oct. 1 and was indicted Nov. 5, according to a police statement. The statement alleges that on Feb. 2, 1997, a Woodlawn woman came home to find White in her living room. She locked herself in her bedroom, but White allegedly kicked in the door, sexually assaulted her and left the room. She escaped by jumping out of her second-story window, in the 1600 block of Bluffdale Road in Woodlawn, before seeking help from a neighbor. The investigation was spurred by the discovery of skeletal remains Wednesday in Reisterstown.
Baltimore County police continue to investigate the discovery of a dead body, days after uncovering the remains of a human hand in Reisterstown, according to a media advisory. The body of an unidentified male was discovered in the Hanover Pike and Butler Road area Saturday morning. “Police investigators had returned to the area to conduct a detailed search after a human hand had been found earlier in the week near the 300-block of Hedgepocket Way, 21136,” the release states. Police have not yet identified the corpse, nor have they provided a description at this time. The remains have been transported to the the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
