A clerk was robbed at gunpoint May 26 at the 7-Eleven store where the winning Mega Millions ticket was sold this spring.

The 7-Eleven where a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket was sold in March was the target of armed robbery last week. A man wearing a mask entered the store in the 8000 block of Liberty Road, at about 1:37 a.m. May 26, pointed a black, semi-automatic handgun at the employee and demanded money, according to a Baltimore County Police report. As a kickoff to summer, participating 7-Eleven stores are offering free Slurpees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until supplies last.

No area high schools have held graduation yet, and schools are still in. But by giving away free Slurpees on Wednesday, 7-Eleven is pronouncing that summer has already begun. Stores throughout the country, including in Pikesville, Owings Mills, Randallstown and Woodlawn, are giving away free Slurpees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.—until supplies last. Sign up for Pikesville Patch's newsletter that's delivered to your e-mail each morning. We called around and found seven stores that are participating, including the 7-Eleven at 7401 Windsor Mill Road in Woodlawn. They have six flavors there, including wild cherry, banana, grape and mango. The mango, called Fanta Sugar-Free Mango Glory, is a lite drink with half the calories of the other Slurpees, …

Mega Millions Lottery Winners Plan to Work, Travel

According to the Maryland Lottery officials, the winners of the historic $656 million jackpot watched the lottery news unfolding, came up with a plan, and went to the lottery headquarters in Baltimore with a financial adviser.

On March 30, a 20-year-old public school employee found a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket among the 60 she had spread out on the floor. "Once I realized one was a winner, I called my two friends right away," she said in a Maryland Lottery news release Tuesday. The three have decided to remain anonymous. She and another winner, a man in his 40s, went over to the third friend's house—a woman in her 50s—to plan how to claim their winnings, the release states. The three friends, all public school employees, had gone in on a pool together to purchase the 60 tickets for the historic $656 million Mega Millions jackpot, lottery officials said. They bought the Maryland winning ticket earlier that evening at the 7-Eleven located at 8014 …

Residents: Mega Millions Lottery an 'Opportunity,' 'Miracle'

The Mega Millions jackpot is an opportunity for someone to give back to the community, one church member said.

Near the intersection of Deliverance Way and Blessings Boulevard on the campus of Greater Bethlehem Temple, Toccarra Myers welcomes customers to T&T Auto Detailing. She and her husband, Tavon Myers, are residents of Baltimore and members of the Milford Mill church, where they operate their outdoor business five days a week. Some proceeds go to the church, she said. Myers said she has a lot to be thankful for—especially for a small business that has been operating for five years. And, for the Milford Mill community, she's thankful that a business nearby—just a mile south on Liberty Road—on Friday sold a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket. "I think it's a great opportunity, especially if the person who won the winning ticket does something…

Hundreds Get Free Slurpees from 7-Eleven on 7/11

Pikesville's newest 7-Eleven—one of the first to sell nearly all kosher products—joins in national celebration of the corporation's 84th birthday.

By 3 p.m. Monday, nearly 600 customers had picked up a free Slurpee ice drink at Pikesville's newest 7-Eleven store. Owned by Harpreet and Darminder Suri, the store located in the Village Green shopping center participated in the company’s nationwide, free-drink promotion in honor of its 84th birthday—aptly set for the date July 11 (7/11). During the 10 minutes when I visited the store, Alienade was the most popular flavor of the light, icy-drink treat called a Slurpee. But cherry was also in great demand. Both the date and the weather—the high was in the 90s—made it the perfect day for the chilly promotion. Shari Rosen of Upper Park Heights in Baltimore City chose a Coke Slurpee, her only choice, she said, "because it tastes like the real…
