Pro-Israel Advocate To Be Honored by BZD

Attorney Jay Bernstein, a Pikesville resident will receive the 2012 Sobeloff Award from the Baltimore Zionist District during a dinner Thursday at Quarry Lake Clubhouse.

Jay Bernstein reached out to Baltimore City to get honorary citizenship for Gilat Shalit, the Israeli soldier released last October after being held captive for five years by Hamas.

And he urged McCormick Spice Co. to stop doing business with Iran.

For these and other Israel advocacy works, he will be honored during the Baltimore Zionist District's A Taste of Israel event, set for 7 p.m. Thursday, according to a report in the Baltimore Jewish Times.

He is to receive the 2012 Sobeloff Award, the report states.

Bernstein, a Pikesville resident, is chair of the BZD advocacy committee, working on behalf of Israel, it states.
