Voices of the Holocaust

On Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., Baltimore Jewish Council and Goucher College present "Voices of the Holocaust," a concert highlighting melodies from the Jewish ghettos of Eastern Europe.

Advocating for the Jewish community is multifaceted. There is political advocacy, community advocacy, Israel advocacy, and more. The Baltimore Jewish Council (BJC) proudly advocates for Holocaust survivors living in our community.

BJC’s Holocaust Remembrance Commission is committed to honoring the memory of the millions who perished during the Nazi era through commemoration and education of the Shoah. We offer a variety of programs for teachers, religious and civic organizations. A student interfaith program, Lessons of the Shoah, is offered for high school seniors and juniors.

The Baltimore Jewish Council’s Holocaust Remembrance Commission also serves as a resource and referral point for Holocaust related issues in Baltimore, and as a liaison to various resources in our community regarding the Holocaust.

Each year, the Commission commemorates Kristallnacht—often referred to as the “Night of Broken Glass,” when the Nazis instigated a wave of violent anti-Jewish pogroms in Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia on Nov. 9 and 10, 1938.

This year’s program takes place at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6 at Kraushaar Auditorium.

“Voices of the Holocaust” features the State College of Pennsylvania Choral Society and Juniata College Concert Choir.
