Here Comes the Heat

Temperatures are taking off again on Friday, headed to around 100 degrees, where they'll stay for the next few days.

It's going to get hot, Pikesville residents.

That's the simplest way to explain what's going to happen starting on Friday. Various weather and media outlets are reporting that the temperature could get to or pass 100 degrees.

And to make matters worse, the humidity could drive the heat index even higher.

WBAL-TV was reporting late Thursday that the heat index could climb as high as 105 or 110.

Baltimore City health commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot told WBAL-TV that a Code Red Heat Alert has been declared from Friday through Sunday.

She advised residents to drink lots of water and limit alcohol and caffeinated drinks. Frequent water breaks in cooler, shadier areas should be taken if someone needs to stay outside and people with various health conditions shouldn't over-exert themselves.

As of late Thursday, the heat was expected to remain in the mid-90s through at least Monday before dropping off a bit.
