Camp Out Saturday in Pikesville

In Pikesville on Saturday, you'll be able to experience the great outdoors, watch vintage Mickey Mouse flicks, a potluck, camping and comraderie, all in one night.

is holding its outdoor event beginning at  6:30 p.m. Saturday, and ending with church service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

It's an overnight camping event, and it's part of the Great American Back Yard Camp Out, a national organization, said Margaret Schotto, event coordinator.

"It's to help get your kids out and enjoying the outdoors," she said.

It's an event supporting the National Wildlife Federation, according to the organization's website.

The Pikesville event takes place on church grounds, 1620 Reisterstown Road. That's the gray stone church next door to the Office Depot, set just north of the intersection of Reisterstown and Old Court roads.

Participants are asked to bring the following, according to a church announcement:

• Tent
• Sleeping bag
• Flashlight
• Bug spray
• A dish to pass

The schedule of events is as follows:

• 6:30 p.m. Pot luck dinner
• 7:30 p.m. Set up tents and sleeping bags
• 8 p.m. Outdoor movie and s'mores (classic Mickey Mouse short films)
• 8:45 Flashlight tag
• 9 p.m. Bedtime or storytelling
• 9 a.m. optional church service (Yes, adults are planning to go, showerless, Schotto said.)
