Tough Decision: Orioles Opening Day, First Seder, Both?

The Baltimore Jewish Times discusses the scheduling conflict between the Orioles Opening Day and the official first day of Passover on April 6.

What will Jewish, die-hard Orioles fans do for opening day this year?

Here's the rub, according to a Baltimore Jewish Times report: Orioles Opening Day at home against the Minnesota Twins, and the first seder of Passover are both on April 6.

The times are as follows:

  • Passover, and Shabbat, officially begin at the sunset—at about 7 p.m.
  • Orioles Opening Day begins at 3:05 p.m.

Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg of advises doing both if you don't have to prepare the dinner yourself.

"The seder is guaranteed; the Orioles are a hope for future redemption," Wahlberg said in the JT report.
