Two Teams Tied At Top Of Pikesville/Owings Mills Softball League

The Bombers and Kings locked in an early season tie for first.

Two teams from the Pikesville/Owings Mills Men’s Softball league continue to battle for the top spot after the first three weeks of the season.

The Bombers and Kings are locked in a tie for first place. Last weekend, the Bombers had a bye and remained at 4-0, while the Kings split two games to go 5-1 this season.

Sky & Sky Inc. ended the Kings’ early winning streak at four games with a 15-3 thrashing in the first game of a doubleheader. But the Kings bounced back for a 6-4 victory in the second game.

This moved Sky & Sky – who had a bye last week – to 3-1 on the season, and right behind the deadlocked Kings and Bombers.

The Bombers remain the league’s most dominant team in the early going. They’ve outscored opponents, 57-9, in their first four game.

Offensively, the Kings have fared almost as well. They’ve scored 55 runs. but gave up 39 so far. Sky & Sky has dealt with some closer games, as they’ve outscored opponents 44-26.

There should be some movement at the top of the standings this week as the Bombers and Sky & Sky meet in a doubleheader this Sunday. The Kings are set to play the Hammerheads while the Stingers and Cobras will battle.

And Northwest Corridor is the team that gets the bye this week.

The Cobras are in fourth place with a 2-2 record. Right behind them are the Stingers, one game back, at 2-4. The Hammerheads and Northwest Corridor are tied for last place as both have 1-5 records.

Northwest Corridor is 1-5 despite only being outscored by 12 runs through six games. That team has dealt with some hard luck early in the season, having lost games by one, two and four runs.

There will be no games set for next weekend because of the Memorial Day holiday.
