Pikesville's Smallwood Wins Her 4th State Pole Vault Title

The Baltimore Sun: Athlete has knee injury that now requires surgery.

Pikesville High School's Sasha Smallwood won her fourth consecutive Class 1A state title despite vaulting on a torn meniscus in her left knee that will require surgery in the coming days, according to an article in The Baltimore Sun.

The senior vaulted 11 feet at Morgan State, the article states.

in March that Smallwood was back to pole vaulting only three months after serious knee surgery. Despite her injury she had also earned a full-ride scholarship to Bethune-Cookman University in Florida.

Smallwood is also a cheerleader for Pikesville, and will attend Bethune-Cookman in the fall.
