This wasn’t the year for the Pikesville High School varsity cheerleading squad at the 2nd Annual Hereford Winter Cheerleading Invitational. If the performance of the junior varsity squad is any indication though, the future is promising.
While perennial favorite Eastern Tech bounded home with another win in the varsity division, the Pikeville Panthers JV squad scored somewhat of an upset win while besting eight other teams.
The Lady Panthers took to the mat last in the JV competition. They opened with several lifts, added in some tosses and never looked back on their way to a win.
The second edition of this regional cheerleading competition at Hereford High School, in upper Baltimore County, attracted 23 teams from as far away as Frederick, Aberdeen and Oakland Mills.
Vocal parents and fans packed the stands with the gymnasium reaching maximum volume during the action-packed routines of the schools that eventually placed. In the junior varsity division, it was Perry Hall in 2nd place and Eastern Tech in 3rd.
Completing the placings for the varsity cheerleading division were Patterson Mills High School in 3rd place and Marriott’s Ridge High School, from Howard County, in 2nd place.
