Varsity Panthers Take Third in County Cheer Championships

Pikesville High School advances to regional competition set for Nov. 10 at New Town High School.

Varsity cheerleaders from Pikesville High School will compete in the North Regional Cheerleading Championships next month, the team's first regional berth.

The team earned a spot at regionals after finishing third Saturday in the Baltimore County Varsity Cheer Championships, said Shaun O'Branski, head coach.

That competition was held at Community College of Baltimore County in Dundalk.

PHS placed third out of 24 teams. Eastern Technical High School placed first, and Hereford High School placed second.

The third place finish is a strong showing for the Panthers team, which placed eighth last year during both the fall and winter seasons, O'Branski said.

The Maryland Northern Regional Competition will be held Nov. 10 at in Owings Mills.

PHS varsity cheerleading team members are: Aliyah Anderson, Jillian Balk, Arrion Barnes, Courtney Barnes, Christina Carrington, Jordan Carrington, Dalieya Carter, Jasmine Dukes, Mallory Harris, Morgan Jones, Sydney Jones, Amanda Kohlmeyer, Kiyah Martin, Amber Merritt, Stephanie Morris, Deziree Smitherman, Dominique Sweet, Bria Taylor-Fowlkes and Jade Winmond.

Coaches are O'Branski and Heather Charles.
