MTA Police, Special Olympians Make Torch Run

Thirty-five police officers and about 25 Special Olympians gathered at Vernis Park and ran the Special Olympics torch to the MTA police Northwestern District station.

The Maryland Transit Administration police hosted its first Special Olympics Torch Run Tuesday.

The MTA leg of the torch run began at War Memorial Plaza in front of Baltimore's City Hall, and then picked up again at the Reisterstown Plaza Metro Station, where police and athletes ran the lit torch 1.5 miles to the MTA Police Northwestern District station at Mt. Hope Drive in the Seton Business Park.

For the Tuesday run, MTA police raised more than $2,500 to benefit Special Olympics, according to a news release from the MTA.
