Former Terp Juan Dixon to Coach Summer Basketball Camp

The former University of Maryland basketball star and Calvert Hall alum will also appear at Towson Town Center for a meet and greet with fans on Saturday.

Former Terrapins and Washington Wizards guard Juan Dixon will be coaching basketball this summer in Pikesville and Owings Mills.

Dixon, along with former Towson University coach Terry Truax, are coaches for Premier Basketball Camp, which will hold sessions this July and August at Garrison Forest School and The Park School of Baltimore for boys and girls aged 8-17.

Selected in the first round of the NBA Draft in 2002 by the Washington Wizards, Dixon was a college basketball star at the University of Maryland College Park.

In 2002, after leading the Terps to their first ever National Championship, he was named ACC Athlete of the Year, NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player, ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, Consensus first team All-American, according to a player biography on the University of Maryland's website.

Before playing at the University of Maryland, Dixon played basketball for Calvert Hall College High School in Towson.

Dixon played in Europe from 2009 to 2011.

He will also be holding meet and greets with fans Saturday at Towson Town Center at 1 and 1:55 p.m. Advance registration on the event's website is required for the free event, which is limited to 50 people.

Truax coached Towson men's basketball from 1983 to 1997, a tenure that included two trips to the NCAA tournament.
