Former Pikesville Goalie Picked For Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game

Jesse Schwartzman earns trip to All-Star contest in Boston this weekend

Former Pikesville High goalie Jesse Schwartzman was picked Thursday to play in the 2011 Major League Lacrosse All-Star game in Boston this weekend.

Schwartzman, who now plays for the Denver Outlaws in the league, will be making his third trip to the All-Star Game, which will be played on Saturday at Harvard Stadium at 7 p.m.

He is 4-2 this season.

He is second in the league in both goals-against-average (10.25) and save percentage (.576). Schwartzman has played in 47 career games in the MLL since joining four years ago after finishing his college career at Johns Hopkins.

Schwartzman has a 31-12 career record in the league during his five seasons.

He played at Johns Hopkins from 2004–2007 and helped the Blue Jays to two national championships, turning in spectacular performances in the big games, especially in the NCAA tournament. Schwartzman got picked as the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament in 2005 and 2007 when the Jays captured national titles.

He also was a star at Pikesville High, helping the Panthers to a state championship in 2001. While playing at Pikesville for four years, Schwartzman was one of the state’s best high school goalie in any class.
