Windsor Mill Businesswoman Featured on Today Show

The nurse and college student talked about her desire to expand her home-based party catering business into a brick-and-mortar store.

Darlene Proctor, a student at Anne Arundel Community College, recently took the national spotlight on NBC's morning show, The Today Show.

Proctor, a nurse from Windsor Mill, discussed classes she's taken at the community college's Hotel, Culinary Arts and Travel (HCAT) institute, a rapidly expanding section of the college's course portfolio.

During the Monday morning program, Proctor said she wants to learn how to expand her home-based party catering business, Party Style Boutique Catering Events, into a brick-and-mortar store.

The student got some tips from a national expert in the advertising field, Donny Deutsch.

Some of Deutsch's advice included: Don't be too shy to make everyone you know and meet, an ambassador for your business. Tell them all about it.

And, while you have a current job, take your first steps into developing your own business, even if it's just one hour a week.
