Mathcounts is a national program. 'Mathletes' compete to "solve oral and written, timed mathematics problems," the release states.

To get in the state meet, the students competed in the annual Baltimore/Chesapeake Chapter Competition held Feb. 2 at Perry Hall High School.

There were 175 competing, representing Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard, Harford and Cecil counties, the release states.

The national competition is set for May 10 in Washington D.C.
