Pikesville High Headed to Robotics Championship

Pikesville is among the public schools in Baltimore County bound for the event in Anaheim, CA next month.

Pikesville High is one of seven Baltimore County schools sending teams to a national robotics championship, school system officials announced.

The VEX Robotics World Championship will be held April 17-20 in Anaheim, CA.

Teams qualified through local events held since last May. More than 400 teams from 15 countries, including Canada, China, Egypt, Japan and Mexico, are participating in the championship, according to the release.

Teams will compete in a grid-based game called VEX Sack Attack, according to the championship's website.

Also making the trip to Anaheim are teams from Hereford Middle School and Chesapeake, Dulaney, Hereford and Towson high schools, according to the release.

A team from Murrieta Valley High School in California won last year's high school competition.
