In these playoffs, Pikesville entered as the No. 6 seed and got a first-round bye. That’s when the fun began. Next the Panthers scored a 2-1 road victory over Carver A&T, the No. 3 seed, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association web site.

Then Pikesville pulled out a 3-1 road win over No. 2 seed Western Tech from Baltimore County. That set up this region title game.

The only other time in school history that girls soccer has made the state final four came in 2000 when Pikesville lost in the state semifinal.

A win for the Panthers in the Tuesday game would put them in the Class 1A state semifinal on Saturday at North County High School in Anne Arundel County. Game time will be set later.
