Local Athletes to be Honored as Unsung Heroes

Students from Milford Mill Academy, Pikesville, Randallstown and Woodlawn high schools and St. Timothy's School are among 112 basketball and football players who will be honored next month by McCormick.

 

Nine student basketball and football players from northwest Baltimore County will be among the 112 athletes to be honored next month as McCormick Unsung Heroes.

Students from Milford Mill Academy, Pikesville, Randallstown and Woodlawn high schools and St. Timothy's School are among those from 68 Baltimore area schools who will be saluted May 7 in Hunt Valley, according to a news release on BusinessWire.com.

Two honorees, one male and one female, will receive the 2012 Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship, valued at $36,000 over four academic years, the news release states.

According to the release, local basketball players to be honored include:

And the football players include:

  • Ronald Christian of Milford Mill Academy
  • Jumul Noble Jr. of Pikesville High School
  • Donte Carter of Randallstown High School
  • Kamonte Hooker of Woodlawn High School

They will be honored druing the 72nd annual McCormick Unsung Heroes Award Banquet on May 7 at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn, the release  states.

Byron Pitts, correspondent for CBS News and 60 Minutes, will deliver the keynote address.

Unsung Heroes was established in 1940 by former McCormick CEO Charles P. McCormick.

"It recognizes unselfish team play and honors those who contribute substantially to the success of their teams without receiving acclaim," the release states.
