Purim 2013: Celebrate the Holiday in Pikesville

We've put together some events, including Megillah readings, shpiels, carnivals and more, to help plan your holiday celebration.

The Purim holiday begins at sundown Saturday, Feb. 23.

SATURDAY, FEB. 23

6:30 p.m. Absolute Purim Celebration. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a wine tasting, this celebration includes Oh What a Shpiel! performace, The Jersey Bosy Megillah; a 7:30 p.m. dinner and show with belly dancing and Persian-style food. At Temple Oheb Shalom Congregation. Adults only. $25 per person. BYOB

6:30 p.m. Purim Un-Plugged at Beth Tfiloh. Bring a box of pasta or rice for your gragger, to be donated to a local food bank. Beth Tfiloh Congregation, 3300 Old Court Rd.

7 p.m. Purim Un-Plugged at Beth Tfiloh. Preschool Puppet Show followed by a mini carnival. Mintzes Theatre/Tuvin Hall. Beth Tfiloh Congregation, 3300 Old Court Rd.

7 p.m. Purim Un-plugged at Beth Tfiloh. Multimedia Megillah Reading. Dahan Sanctuary, Beth Tfiloh Congregation, 3300 Old Court Rd. Followed by the Shushan Street Celebrations performing in the main auditorium.

7 p.m. Purim Movie Night. Moses Montefiore Anshe Emunah Congregation, 7000 Rockland Hills Dr. At 7 p.m. Maa'ariv/Megillah. Movie begins at 8 p.m. Movie: One Night With the King, an epic about Hadassah, the young Jewish girl who becomes the Biblical Esther, Queen of Persia. Free. Refreshments.

7:30 p.m. Megillah Reading. Town Center at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, 2434 W. Belevedere Ave., Baltimore.
