Education Documentary: "Race to Nowhere: The Dark Side of America's Achievement Culture"

A concerned mother turned filmmaker aims her camera at the high-stakes, high-pressure culture in our schools and our children's lives, resulting in stressed-out youth, according to a news release from Reel Link Films, and The Day School at Baltimore Hebrew, Pikesville.

"The film features stories of young people in all types of communities who have been pushed to the brink, educators who are burned out and worried that students aren't developing the skills they need, and parents who are trying to do what's best for their kids," the release states.

Gerri Chizeck, head of school for The Day School, said the screening of this film at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at the school, 7401 Park Heights Ave., in Pikesville, will help open discussion between community members, educators, and clergy.
