Six-Week Course to Reveal Ancient Marriage Secrets

A series of classes about the secrets of successful marriage will begin on May 2 at Chabad of Park Heights.

All are invited to the six sessions of "The Art of Marriage" regardless of marital status.

The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) courses will be taught by Rabbi Elchonon Lisbon.

The courses "will go far beyond platitudes, to cover topics at the heart of modern marriage," a release from the congregation states.

It will cover:

  • Does marriage still serve any purpose at all?
  • How far should one go to make a marriage work?
  • When is divorce the best option?
  • Jewish bedroom secrets, from ancient texts, on how to increase intimacy in marital relationships

"Judaism views a loving marriage as a spiritual as well as a human ideal. 'The Art of Marriage' shows students how to attain that for themselves and for their spouses, with timeless lessons from both modern and ancient Jewish texts such as the Talmud and Zohar."

This program is designed to of Jewish knowledge, including those without any background in Jewish learning.

And people who attend don't have to be connected to a synagogue, temple, or other house of worship, the release states.

The course will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. on six Wednesdays at Chabad of Park Heights at 3402 Clarks Lane in Baltimore.

Cost is $100 per person, including a textbook.

According to the release: "JLI, the adult education branch of Chabad-Lubavitch, offers programs in more than 350 U.S. cities and in numerous foreign locations, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela. More than 225,000 students have attended JLI classes since the organization was founded in 1998."
