5 Kid Friendly Things To Do In The Pikesville Area

Learning about the Internet, badminton, gardening, "Charlotte's Web" and pirates are on the schedule.

1. Get introduced to the internet. Teens ages 13 and older can attend an Introduction to the Internet course 9 a.m., Saturday at Woodlawn Branch Library, 1811 Woodlawn Drive. Register to learn basic Internet skills. Call 410-887-1336 for more information and to register. Visit the branch's website for the full schedule of library events.

2. Root for the home team. Cheer on members of the coed varsity badminton team as they take on . The event is set for 3:45 p.m., Wednesday at Pikesville, 7621 Labyrinth Road. Come on out and enjoy the game. 

3. Learn to garden. School-aged children can enjoy a short course in Kids' Gardening with Mom or Dad. It begins at 6:30 p.m., Thursday at Pikesville Branch Library, 1301 Reisterstown Rd. Advanced registration is required. Kids will do two crafts and plant fall cabbage to take home and watch grow. Bring a container suitable for planting with drainage holes in the bottom. 4. See "Charlotte's Web" live. Elementary through middle school-aged children will enjoy "Charlotte's Web," a play based on the famous novel by E. B. White presented by the Pumpkin Theatre at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 24 and 25. The theater is at St. Timothy's School for Girls, 8400 Greenspring Ave., Stevenson. 5. Learn Pirate Lingo. Kids ages 2 to 5 can attend Talk Like a Pirate Day Story Time, at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Pikesville Branch Library. Captain Bob will tell pirate stories. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 410-887-1234.
