Police & Community Relations Council To Discuss Community Groups

K9 officer attends last month's PCRC meeting in Pikesville and does a demonstration! Thanks to Officer Roberts for her patience in answering all of our questions!

Spring has finally arrived and as such, there will naturally be more outdoor activity.

As we move outdoors to enjoy the fresh air and see our neighbors that perhaps we haven't seen since winter began, we should try to be mindful of what is happening in our neighborhoods.

With recent events both in Boston and locally, we should look for ways to connect and take care of each other in a more comprehensive manner. One way, that only requires an hour of time a month, is to attend the monthly meetings held by the PCRC at The Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Pikesville.

The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

There are always some of our officers in attendance and they are very informative regarding current crime "trends" within our neighborhoods.

Most months there is a speaker who will talk on a specific subject for a short time. Last month one of our stellar K9 officers came to the meeting and brought in one of their dogs and gave a short demonstration.

This month, our guest speaker will be discussing community groups and their importance in helping to control crime.

Really the most important way we can help each other is just to be more mindful of what is going on around us and to call 911 about anything that seems out of place or out of context.

There have been several occasions in the Pikesville Precinct specifically where people have heard suspicious noises and didn't report it only to find later that their own homes or cars were broken into.

The quote “For evil men to accomplish their purpose, it is only necessary that good men do nothing," by the Rev. Charles F. Aked (and others), puts it pretty succinctly. Hope to see you at the meeting!
