Walgreens, Goodman Gable Gould, to Celebrate Groundbreaking Ceremonies Tuesday

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Pikesville Chamber of Commerce team up for ceremonies at construction sites.

Pikesville celebrates the groundbreakings of two businesses Tuesday: the Walgreens at Reisterstown and Old Court roads, and the nearby headquarters for Goodman Gable Gould/Adjusters International, currently of Rockville.

At 10:30 a.m. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Councilwoman Vicki Almond and leaders of the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce will hold a groundbreaking at the , located at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court roads.

Last week, work began to transform the old Staples building .

Once completed, it will be Pikesville's newest Walgreens. It could open as early as January or February, said Sherrie Becker, executive director for the chamber.

It will have the same "footprint" as the former Staples store, plus a few changes, including landscaping, a new brick exterior, and a drive-thru pharmacy. It will look like other Walgreens stores, she said.

The store will be 18,000 square feet and will employ about 30 people, according to a news release from the county executive's office.

It will be the Pikesville area's second Walgreens, including the one .

Next, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, the celebration moves one block west of Reisterstown Road to the construction site for Goodman Gable Gould, next to Sunrise of Pikesville, 3800 Old Court Road.

The insurance adjusting company was begun in 1941 by three Baltimore public insurance adjusters, according to the company's website. It helps its clients minimize losses and collect from insurance companies after disasters.

President Harvey Goodman has worked with policyholders since 1976, the website states.

The public is welcome to attend both groundbreaking ceremonies.
