Tornado Watch in Effect for Baltimore County, Region

A cold front could bring thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts and showers as well, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch Monday for Baltimore County and Baltimore City, through 5 p.m., as temperatures begin to cool.

Other counties in the watch include: Howard, Carroll, Harford, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, Talbot and Washington, according to the watch, that also includes the Washington D.C. area and parts of northern Virginia.

Tornadoes and storms are likely as a cold front moves in, according to the hazardous weather outlook that is also in effect.

"A strong cold front will move into the mid-Atlantic states today," it states. "Showers and isolated thunderstorms could produce a period of heavy rainfall this afternoon."

There could be some flooding in urban areas, an isolated tornado and damaging wind gusts, it states.

Tornado signs

There might be a tornado coming when the sky turns dark and greenish. There could be hail, "dark low-lying clouds and a loud roar," according to a tweet by the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.

"If you see this, seek shelter immediately!" it states.
