Clocks Should be Set One Hour Forward

The Maryland State Fire Marshal, headquartered in Pikesville, urges residents to change the batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors this weekend when setting clocks one hour forward for daylight saving time.

Daylight saving time  begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 11.

So, when you set all your clocks forward one hour tonight, Saturday, the urges you to perform another life-saving task: Change the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors.

Also, avoid injury or death in your home by reviewing or creating a home escape plan that includes at least two different escape routes. Practice the plan to teach children what to do when they hear one of the alarms go off, said State Fire Marshal William E. Barnard.
