iWatch Neighborhood Online Awareness Program to Begin

County executive launches first of several county technology initiatives.

Today, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz plans to announce the start of the "iWatch Baltimore County" neighborhood online awareness program.

Kamenetz, Police Chief Jim Johnson and Information Technology Director Rob Stradling will introduce the newest technical device to help ensure the safety and well-being of county citizens.

The device, iWatch Baltimore County, was created to educate and encourage citizens to be vigilant in observing and reporting suspicious behaviors that may be connected to crime.

Crimes can include local, state or national security threats.

Through e-mail subscriptions, residents can receive crime alerts and agency information, and use their computers and/or handheld electronic devices to provide police with tips and to make non-emergency complaints.

 A demonstration of the program will be conducted at a news conference today at the county Public Safety Building in Towson.
