County Executive to Promote Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Sale

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will speak during Towson Gardens Day April 28. His remarks will be made at Patriot Plaza.

At that time he will proclaim it Arbor Day in Baltimore County, will accept a Tree City USA award on behalf of the county, and will present appreciation awards.

He'll also announce the sale of compost bins and rain barrels that will take place April 30.

The sale will be held by the Baltimore County departments of Public Works, and Environmental Protection and Sustainability from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 30, or until supplies last.

Compost bins will cost $35, and rain barrels are $50—"about 1/3 of the normal retail prices," according to a news release from the county executive's office.

The compost and rain barrel sale will be held at the Avenue at White Marsh, in the parking lot behind the Loew's AMC Cinema.

On April 28, appreciation awards will go to:

  • GBMC for their staff retreat garden
  • Human and Rhode Landscape Engineers and Wallace Montgomery and Associates Civil Engineers for their design of Olympian Park
  • Greater Ruxton Foundation for the park at Bellona and Boyce Avenues
  • Friends of Towson Library for the Towson Library garden
