Baltimore County Executive to Open Park with Ceremony

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will lead an opening ceremony for Robert E. Lee Park, two years after the County acquired the park from Baltimore City.

According to a news release from the county executive's office, during that time a large part of the 415-acre park has been renovated.

There's now a concrete slab bridge over Roland Run, as well as improvements and additions to the park itself, including paved foot path, a boardwalk from from the light rail station to the site of a future rangers station, and the Baltimore Animal Rights Coalition Park, a 1.5-acre chained compound for dog walking.

The State of Maryland paid $3 million for the renovation and construction. Baltimore County put in $3.1 million, the release states.

A total of about $3.7 million has been spent, the release states. The rest of the money will be spent on future renovations and maintenance.
